About:
Crawley RFC would like to invite entrants
for a seven-a-side rugby tournament aimed
at the more mature and less athletic player.
(Old fat gits over thirty five years old
and more than sixteen stone)
The competition is open to players of
all ability and fitness levels but it
will be handicapped in favour of the older
and heavier teams.
Players
weight will be penalised five points for
every ½ stone (or part thereof)
that they are under 16 stones. Player’s
age will also be penalised by 2 points
for every year that they are under 35
years of age. Players over 50 and 65 years
of age will earn their side bonus points
(5 per age band bring your pension book)
as will players over 20 stone or in fancy
dress
Proof
of age is not required but if challenged
may prove useful as the judges decision
will be final. Teams will start each match
with their allotted handicapped score
already on the referee’s card in
favour of the opposition.
In short: a team of seventy year old biffa’s
would only need to be able to stand on
the pitch for fourteen minutes in total
and have the co-ordination and strength
to change ends within a minute on the
half time whistle to BEAT a side of 19
year old athletes.
Further
penalties may be imposed to prevent outrageous
miss-matches.
Normal seven-a-side rules will apply:
7 mins each way, convert your own tries
with the addition of the compulsory jug
of beer (bring a beer kitty) for each
side to start the day, spillage of which
will impose further penalties.
