REVIEW
WCR offers a straightforward game with a smattering of well-devised and clever implementations. We put it to the test as part of a hangover cure after match day. Ingredients;
The Game: Coming from the developer Swordfish who previously brought us one of the greatest games ever for the Playstation and PC 'Jonah Lomu Rugby', the progression in Rugby action games have moved on remarkably over the last few years. Controls are easy to understand but coordinating 10+ actions via various buttons either by single or multiple pushes while keeping an eye on the action and managing to put passes together is nothing short of frustratingly hard, but like Jonah Lomu, you will be a master soon. Tackling and kicking is pretty simple to get to grips with, it’s just the positional play and passing that is a real nightmare. But after a few more beers and slices of pizza, with your mates hounding you for a game... you'll start to become a master, bringing in 5 or 6 phases of play and a side step here and there. The Verdict: Plenty of training and positive thinking could get you a long way in this game, which is not too far off from the psychology of Sir Clive Woodward! Although the rugby season in the UK is almost to an end, with this game for can feel like you playing all year round.
