Wednesday 01 February 2006
England Women's students' team to take on Wales Development announced
England Women's Academy coach Gary Street has today (Wednesday) announced his starting line-up for England Students' first international of 2006.
England Students take on Wales Development at RAF Halton, Aylesbury on Sunday February 5th, kick-off 2pm .
The match is the first of four internationals this season, which also sees the Students take on Holland on February 26th at the National Stadium in Amsterdam , the Combined Services on March 19th at Broadstreet RFC and Sweden in April (date and venue to be confirmed).
Street said: “The England Women's Students team is a crucial talent ID pool and an important part of the England pathway.
“This season we have some very exciting new talent coming through from our regional programmes and the standard of student rugby is getting stronger every year. The Students squad has a real rugby pedigree now which is a fantastic situation for the RFUW to be in.
“We are lucky to have a very interesting fixture list this season and I am very excited about the squad taking on Wales on Sunday. That game will give us a good measure as to where we are this season.
“Playing the Holland and Sweden senior teams will also certainly provide some tough games. They are both strong international sides who will prove tough opposition for our developing squad.”
